Open Gallery was at the return of HowTheLightGetsIn to Hay-on-Wye over the recent bank holiday weekend.

The video painting series Dreams and Jeopardy was commissioned exclusively for HowTheLightGetsIn and was exhibited in the Art & Cinema tent during the mornings and early afternoons of the festival weekend.

The artwork explored the way that these themes are simultaneously present in the world as we emerge from the pandemic, navigating a so-called ‘new normal’ amidst a background of loss and insecurity. The series features work by a range of artists, including burning sunsets, nostalgic landscapes and dream-like perspectives of the strange.

’Dreams and Jeopardy’ features work by Sanchita Islam, Hilary Lawson, Alys Williams, Isabelle Inghilleri, Mark Nelson, Roz Mortimer, Gabrielle Le Bayon, Sidsel Christensen, David Brazier and Kelda Free.
