Underground is a five hour series of thirty nine video paintings containing work by a number of the gallery artists including Alex Bettler, Isabelle Inghilleri, Sanchita Islam and Hilary Lawson.
Consisting of works shot between 2006 and 2007, 'Underground' takes us into the dark. As Milton first identified, Satan has all the best lines. In the dark there is excitement alongside fear, sexuality alongside emptiness. Unsurprisingly perhaps, the Underground collection has a large number of urban pieces and these video paintings explore the city labyrinth, its human contents, and their desires. These are combined with darker more challenging material from the natural world.
