Speakers’ Evening: Art & Nature on Prescription
15th June 2016, 18:00
KTHC, James Wigg Practice
2 Bartholomew Rd, London NW5 2BX
Free Space Gallery hosts leading researchers Denis Roche and Susan Potter in conversation, to coincide with Open Gallery’s Video Painting exhibition for Creativity and Wellbeing Week.
To celebrate this unique partnership, Melissa Hardwick of Free Space Gallery will chair a conversation between leading researchers Denis Roche and Susan Potter. They will explore the recent accumulation of scientific evidence supporting ‘green prescriptions’ and ‘arts on prescription’ initiatives within mainstream healthcare practices.
Free Space Gallery’s programme is positioned within the Kentish Town Health Centre and will be hosting a series of Open Gallery’s Video Paintings throughout Creativity and Wellbeing Week. The exhibition will act as a catalyst for activities with different patient groups and as a springboard into the research currently being carried out in this field.
Can nature in the form of digital imagery also be considered as a viable form of ‘green prescriptions’? Can it present some of the same or similar benefits for patients whose access to nature is restricted? How do we support and evidence health and wellbeing benefits of this kind? And how does the presentation of these practices influence their success?
The event welcomes the general public, nature enthusiasts, healthcare professionals and artists alike.
